Well, yesterday was a write-off. I got off work relatively early but had to go get Dee's earrings cleaned and inspected and got home just in time to head over to my mother-in-law's for Dee's birthday party. So no exercise.
Saturday I didn't get a chance to run as I had to take care of the tater tot, but I got in some decent biking. About 20 minutes worth, estimated 2-3 miles (I really need to get a bike computer!)
Tomorrow I get to go to Houston for a week, and should be able to run each morning or evening, provided I don't work myself to death on the inspections.
Today was a rude wake-up call to running...literally. I set my alarm for 6AM to get up and go for a run (since I didn't have to be in to work until 9 today) and upon waking immediately set the alarm for 7. When I hit snooze for the third time after THAT alarm went off, I decided I needed to save the run for this evening.
I did run when I got home from work though, and it was rough because of my soreness, but I took it easy and cut the distance down a bit. I didn't stop once, and even ran up the big hill, so I'm pretty proud of myself.
- Ran for 16.5 mins, medium-easy pace (including big hill)
- Walked/cooldown for 4 mins
Total running time: 16.5 mins
Total mileage (run): 1.25 miles (estimated)
Overall feelings: It was rough today, but I was REALLY happy to be out there. I felt good emotionally. Need to remember this feeling as motivation to get out there again tomorrow.
Other: It was nice and quiet. If it wasn't for the heat it would have been the perfect time to run. I'll try again this time tomorrow, since I need to get in early tomorrow morning.
Today was a decent start to getting back into shape, although it would have helped if I had done it in the morning, rather than waiting until 1pm when it was HOT out.
- Ran for 15 mins, medium pace
- Walked for 3.5 mins (up giant hill)
- Ran for 1.5 mins, medium pace
- Jogged/cooldown for 4 mins
Total running time: 16.5 mins
Total mileage (run): 1.75 miles (estimated)
Overall feelings: Good, happy to be out and running. A little tight and had to keep shaking out my arms.
Other: Saw the crews out building houses in the neighborhood. It really goes back a bit. I need to map out a 2 mile course so I can run that and run for distance some days.
I've never understood why New Year's was the big resolution-making time of the year. You're on vacation, it's cold out (unless you're in the southern hemisphere), and you've got a hard enough time remembering to put 2007 on your dates, let alone stick to a bunch of resolutions. So why shouldn't you pick a date a little later in the year, and start there?
I already use the 4th of July as a reminder for me to change smoke detector batteries - now I'm using it as an excuse to get back into running, too. I figure posting my workouts on a vox account, as well as keeping them in my new excel log, will keep me on top of what I'm actually doing. And my desire to get back into shape so I can keep from pooping out after playing with my daughter outside (read: chasing after her as she runs around) for 20 minutes.
This will be public, and I may occasionally post something on here other than just workout logs, but I'll probably cross-post to my other vox as well. So I'm not expecting an audience here, just a place to throw up my activities and keep myself honest.
